Beeman
I’ve been enjoying the buzz of beekeeping for over 30 years now, and love to share my experience and knowledge.
My partner and I live in an old church on one acre in the Kawarthas, 30 minutes north of Bowmanville, 1 1/4 hours northeast of Toronto. We are looking for one intern or interning couple for March to October 2011 to help in every aspect of beekeeping, as well as gardening and home maintenance. Bee work will involve everything from building beehives and all components to extracting and bottling honey, and making honey stixs, candles, and many other products. In late May, you’d start to help at farm markets, which would be fun and a learning experience; we enjoy direct sales and connecting with our customers. You’ll learn all you need to start your own business in beekeeping if you so wish. Another note: I have apiaries on 33 locations. All locations are unique. I am very lucky to be involved with so many great like-minded people, people who are part of a community that is interested in sustainability. I am involved with a number of farms and occasionally we may spend a day helping another farmer with his or her needs. Every day is a new and different day and we like to enjoy our work. You will be part of a team working 5.5 days per week, private room, kitchen facilities stipend provided.
