Circle Organic Community Farm
Circle Organic is seeking three interns to help in the running of our 60-member CSA program and 2-acre certified organic market garden from April/May to October; we can be flexible with dates. We are located in Bailieboro ON, 20 minutes south of Peterborough, on a hilly 100-acre farm overlooking lovely Rice Lake. We grow a diverse range of vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers, which we sell through our CSA
program, as well as the Peterborough farmers’ market, By the Bushel food co-op, and various restaurants.
Interns participate in all aspects of the farm’s operation and will learn about garden planning, seed starting, greenhouse and fieldwork, soil building, organizing and running a CSA program, composting, pasturing chickens, preserving, and much more. We work 5 ½ days per week and offer a comfy place to stay, meals and a stipend. Interns have individual rooms in a separate wing of our farmhouse, and some meal prep is shared, so occasions to cook with the food we grow are plentiful. There will be opportunities to participate in public education with various on-farm events happening throughout the season. And in addition to working our main gardens, interns will have the opportunity to help prep gardens and soil at a new farm site, and potentially do some straw bale building.
Lastly, if it is of interest, we would like to help interns develop their own enterprise or project with support from the farm (e.g., a special crop, worm composting, preserving). After participating in the C.R.A.F.T program ourselves we were given the opportunity to start an urban agriculture project that evolved into Circle Organic, and we would like to share this offer with others who are inspired, dedicated
and seeking more from the internship experience.
