Lunar Rhythm Gardens
Lunar Rhythm Gardens is a 3.5 acre 100 member CSA, started in 2009 and located around 7A & 35 area, we are 20 minutes east of Port Perry, 30 minutes south of Lindsay, and 40 minutes west of Peterborough. The CSA garden is run in conjunction with my parents family farm and The Meating Place. Together my family runs approximately 150 acres of land; which is kept in hay, pasture, mixed grains and of course vegetables.
The garden is maintained mainly with horse power; this doesn’t mean there isn’t any hand weeding! HA!HA!HA! The horses also help out with haying, and logging, as well as field cultivation on my parents farm. We have a cow calf operation, raising both grain finished and grass fed beef. I also keep a couple dairy cows for milk. We also raise heritage pigs, chickens (layers and meat birds) and turkeys.
There is a lot to learn on such a diversified operation and between my dad and I there are over 60 years of farm experience on hand. Interns could choose to focus on specific things, like the garden, or the livestock, or they could get a taste of everything.
We market through the CSA, and a couple farmers markets, as well as other local marketing groups.
There is a self contained camper provided for accommodation, food (produced on the farm), and a stipend. We are looking for one possibly two interns, as I already have some people who are interested.
