Wholearth Farmstudio
Wholearth Farmstudio needs two land loving, creative, energetic, enthusiastic individuals with high spirits, warm hearts & good humour.
We raise slow, good, real food with care & kindness on 100 rolling acres of field, pastures, meadows, gardens, woods and ponds. We supply heritage meats to CSA shareholder members and for our local farmer’s market, and raise vegetables for the market and for field-to-table lunches and dinners and workshops. (We are not operating a vegetable CSA this 2012 season.)
For those interested in local food and agri-tourism, we host seasonal zero-mile field-to-table gourmet food celebrations uniting local chefs, guests, producers and farmers. Last years Wholearth Heritage Harvest Feast was sold out and we plan to hold a spring and summer outdoor feast next season, as well as the Thanksgiving dinner. All menu items are grown here and on nearby farms, with many on the Slow Foods Ark of Taste list.
You’ll be involved in and learn about: Heritage breeds-Shropshire sheep, Jersey Giant chickens, Bourbon Red turkeys, Tamworth pastured pigs; farm to abattoir to custom meat orders; growing Heirloom vegetables; farmers market; haying; smoking meats & food preservation…dips in the spring-fed pond. There’s more, of course. We have much to do but equally appreciate each individuals need for space, time for art, music, reading, writing, etc. Interns are encouraged to develop their own personal farm projects as well.
This immersion should leave you with lasting insight into the rewards of integrating small sustainable farm life into a balanced life.
We are now accepting intern applications for the 2012 season. Please email us with your resume and letter outlining why you’d like to be a Wholearth Farmstudio Intern, your background, what you hope to glean from the experience, and if there are specific areas you have skills or abilities in, or special interest in learning more about. We’ll send you more info on what to expect this season.
Take care (of the earth)…
