CRAFT Ottawa Farms

Welcome to CRAFT Ottawa. We are a group of ecological farms looking to nurture the next generation of food producers. We believe in a sustainable, local food system, and internships on our farms are an important aspect of that. If you have been thinking becoming a sustainable food producer, then CRAFT is one of the best portals to a unique learning opportunity. Interns have a complete immersion in a working farm, with producers who respect their contribution and are willing to share their wisdom and knowledge.

The Ottawa region offers a great community, excellent learning opportunities and access to vibrant, exciting cities on both sides of the Ontario/Quebec border.

How to Become a CRAFT farm in the Ottawa Region
To become a CRAFT farm in Ottawa Region you must:

  • Grow and market food locally
  • Offer a full-season sustainable farming internship (details of these internships vary from farm to farm)
  • Operate your farm in a sustainable manner that fits with the Principles of Organic Agriculture – but farms are NOT required to be certified organic.

Each farm may organize its internship as they see fit; however, all internships must involve an exchange or labour (by the intern) for education and hands-on farming experience (from the farmer).
