Luxy Farm
Luxy Farm CSA and Market Garden is looking for two full-time interns from approximately
May until November 2012. We are heading into our third year of operation and are
looking for help with planting, weeding, harvesting, and preparing vegetables. Workdays
are generally 7am to 5pm including breaks, 5 days a week, plus a weekend market.
Compensation includes a weekly stipend and a bonus for completing the season. Lodging
and 1 meal per workday are provided. Potential candidates must be prepared for
physically demanding work in all weather conditions. In exchange, we will teach you what
we’ve learned about growing vegetables organically, greenhouse production, running
a Community Supported Agriculture program, attending farmers’ markets, and record
keeping.
We are a family run operation located about 40 minutes east of Ottawa in St. Albert,
ON. The property is a former dairy farm situated on 90 acres with 3 acres dedicated to
vegetable production, 15 acres in green manure crops, and the remainder rented out.
Potential candidates must be 19 years of age or older and should have a keen interest
in farming and the local food movement. Having a driver’s licence is an asset but not
required and we do not accept interns with pets or children.
