Vicki’s Veggies
Located in Prince Edward County. We work 10 acres and grow non-certified organic mixed vegetables, herbs, fruit, flowers and some mushrooms for a busy roadside stand, restaurants and two Toronto farmers markets – Brickworks and Wychwood Barns. On-farm public events include Heirloom Tomato Seedling Sale in May and an Heirloom Tomato Tasting on Labour Day weekend.
This is a very active community throughout the season. Prince Edward County has established a vibrant agri-food and tourism community. We actively participate in local events and the Slow Food convivium.
Major on-farm work experience will include starting greenhouse seedlings, transplanting, weed management, irrigation, harvesting and packing, display and marketing, caring for some livestock. Other farm activities include seed saving, tool care, cleaning up, customer relations, firewood bees, cooking and processing. You should be comfortable in a very busy work and social environment, working closely with others and independently.
We look to hire second year interns on a full-time basis. Great opportunity for experience towards a future in organic market gardening!
