LoonSong Garden
LoonSong Garden is located in Little Current on Manitoulin Island. Your farmers are Heather Thoma and Paul Salanki. Paul’s background is in environmental engineering & farming, and Heather’s background is in community organizing & outreach.
We have been growing diverse vegetable crops offered through CSA, markets, and restaurant sales for eight years. We are now starting to grow cereal grains as well, and in 2009 we added on-farm milling to offer fresh stone-ground flours and rolled/flaked grains for local and regional sales year round. In years when the weather cooperates, we harvest a crop of coloured beans (black turtle, red kidney, etc.) and sweet corn. We integrate seed-saving into our farming as much as possible, and collaborate with community groups, schools, and volunteers to offer local education opportunities.
