Hello!  Moondance is a family run organic market garden operation offering a CSA program and onsite market stand. We started our growing adventure 10 years ago and this will be our first year on our new property; we are excited to have room to grow.  There is a 5 acre growing field, about 60 laying hens, 1500sq’ greenhouse and a beautiful woodlot.  We have a wonderful group of local volunteers with lots of children and families involved in the farm.  The farm is situated in a central location, being close to Barrie and minutes from Angus.   Areas that we are particularly interested in are education, permaculture, biodynamics, nutritional greens, perennial food, herbal teas and yoga.  We follow organic growing practices but are not certified as we sell directly to our customers and believe in creating relationships within our community.

Help is always appreciated with planting, transplanting, watering, weeding, harvesting, preparing food.  Everything from working in the greenhouse, taking care of the chickens, working in the market stand and lots of work in the field.  This
year we will have lots of building projects and creating as we re-establish our gardens.  We try to utilize the skills and interests that each individual brings to the gardens.  The most important qualities of a prospective intern would be respect of others, independence, flexibility, ability to work long hours outdoors, and an affinity for children and animals.  Our meals are generally not vegetarian and we would appreciate no smoking during work hours.

 Number of Interns Required:  Ideally we would appreciate 2 or 3 interns, couples accepted.

Accommodations:  Individual trailers in our yard, meals with us, lots of room to roam, bikes to use and things to do.

Work Schedule:  Generally Tuesday to Saturday,  8 – 5 with one hour break for lunch.  This varies with the time of season and the weather and how much needs to get done.

Special Perks:  We would like to offer a end of season bonus other then room and board.  Beer and wine are generally offered with dinner,  bonfires, games and general relaxing when life allows.
