Agri-Cultural Renewal Cooperative Inc. – ARC
One position available for 2010.
Located in Grey Bruce, an area rich in beauty and history, this 300-acre farm was established in 1983. We are a fully diversified biodynamic farm and emerging worker co-operative emphasizing dairy production and dairy processing. We also have pigs, chickens and other fowl, an orchard, vegetable garden, horses, cash crop, grains and an on-site bakery.
Home to the famous Blue Bus and our own farm store, our current market is primarily direct sales to our customers. Our focus is on health, good food and the environment.
Interns working with us will learn by doing, which could include the following: general farm chores, market garden, bakery, cheese house operations and making and using biodynamic preparations. There is an opportunity to earn credit in the North American Biodynamic Apprentice Program. As further food for the soul, the farm is also home to Symphony in the Barn and a growing education/awareness program, and interns will also be part of these activities.
We are particularly seeking an individual with market garden experience to help us as we expand this part of our operation. We offer room, board and stipend. This is a demanding, hard-working farm operation. You can acquire incredible skills in the arts of work and social interaction. We are deeply committed to the training of young farmers but require an equal commitment from those who want to train here. And a sense of humour is a must!
