Garden Party

Situated just 15 minutes outside of Kitchener-Waterloo, Garden Party is a small farm with a big vision. For several years, the site has hosted the Canadian Organic Growers demonstration gardens (Diversity Gardens). Now the farm has expanded to 4 acres and is becoming a year-round certified organic farm business. In 2010 Garden Party will offer a year round CSA, an acre of cut-your own flowers and herbs, a micro-nursery focusing on edible landscaping, a pick-your-own vegetables program, weekly on-site dinners served in the garden, and food skills workshops in our on-farm processing kitchen.
We are seeking energetic people for two paid internship positions. (There is no room and board provided.) Interns work 8-10 hrs, Wednesday – Saturday from April 7 – October 30, with the possibility of winter employment. Our internship program features both hands-on learning and independent research assignments to benefit both intern and farm. Interns gain experience with certification requirements and record keeping, crop planning & rotation, greenhouse seeding and management, produce harvesting and storage, CSA and farm-stand customer service, general horticulture, and local and organic food preparation and processing.
